Treating Sciatica in Enschede
Radiating pain along the sciatic nerve, from the buttock down the leg.
Sciatica is pain that radiates along the sciatic nerve: from the lower back through the buttock and down the leg, sometimes as far as the foot. The pain is often sharp or burning and may come with tingling.
Sciatica is not a disease in itself but a symptom. Usually the nerve is compressed somewhere in the lower back, for example by a herniated disc or a restricted joint.
Common symptoms
- Sharp or burning pain from buttock to leg
- Tingling or numbness in the leg or foot
- Pain that worsens when sitting or bending
- Sometimes loss of strength in the leg
How we help you with sciatica
First we find out where the nerve is being compressed. We often use the Cox® Decompression Technique to reduce pressure on the nerve, combined with targeted treatment of the lower back.
Exercises at home help keep space around the nerve and stop the complaint from coming back.
Frequently asked questions
Can a chiropractor help with sciatica?
That depends on the cause, which is why we always start with a thorough examination. If your complaint turns out to be suitable for chiropractic care, we draw up a treatment plan that fits you. Many people experience relief, although results differ from person to person.
Do I need a referral from my GP?
No. You can book an appointment directly, without a referral from your GP.
Is the treatment reimbursed?
Chiropractic care is not part of the Dutch basic health insurance, but many insurers cover it under supplementary insurance. No deductible (eigen risico) applies. The pricing page explains how to submit your invoice.
How many treatments will I need?
That differs per person and per complaint. After the first examination we give you a realistic estimate and a plan, so you know where you stand.
